Just a short overview…
I started my carrier as officer of the Federal Armed Forces in 1988, including first steps at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg.
In 1995 I finished my active military carrier and continued to study Safety Engineering at the University of Wuppertal, finshed with the Diploma in 1998. This included a semester at the Université de Haute Alsace in Mulhouse/France, where I prepared my diploma thesis – achieving the degree Diplom-Ingenieur.
From 1998 to 2004 I worked with Dräger, one of the worlds leading suppliers for safety and medical equipment. I joint a trainee program and than worked as sales engineer in Thuringia, one of the German Federal States.
Later I decided to join the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in Dortmund. Between Marc 2004 and November 2013 I had the position as a research assistant and deputy head of unit „Basics of product safety„.
Besides of my work I continued my studies in the field of Safety Technology / Safety and Quality Law. I finished that with a PhD thesis, achieving the degree as Dr. rer. sec. (Doctor rerum securitatis)
Since December 2013 I worked with the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection, in the unit dealing with „Technical Consumer Protection, Market Surveillance“.
As of March 2019 I was chosen to take the postion of the head of department responsible for „International Aspects, Pesticides“ in the German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA).
In addition to the occupation I also have a few hobbies and/or volunteer activities:
As a reserve officer, I am still engaged in the military service. Meanwhile, I have reached the rank Lieutenant Colonel, and take over the tasks of the Commander in a Logistical Supply Battalion.
More often, I was in action for the volunteer fire department of Hattingen. I have the qualification as platoon leader and head of a fire department, so where and when necessary I could take over the operational command during missions. This engagement will need to rest until I’ve settled in Munich.
In the third honorary position I was Chairman of the association „Väter im Ruhrgebiet e.V.“ – a circle of friends, who plan their activities together to have even more fun.
Additonaly I started to dance: As active dancer and trainer I am in favour of Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag and Balboa – dances from the 1920ies-1940ies.
